In his time away, the thief found himself dueling with an a person rather more suited for devilry than he. They fought and he escaped, but she was ever on his heels because he protected what she would destroy. When she caught up with him that final time, the only thing killed was the place they fought; killed by her target, the one the thief had wanted to protect.
